So, we, as a group, have become the subject of a study?
This may be of use, but I am certain there are distinct differences between=
game strategy and life strategy. =C2=A0For most of us, at least. =C2=A0The=
re are things done within the parameters of a game that will not reflect up=
on the world outside that game. =C2=A0For example, I, as Germany, may invad=
e France in 1901, but that is not a choice I would have made if I were Kais=
er=E2=80=A6 =C2=A0should be interesting anyway.

Jordan Boyd-Graber is an assistant professor at the University of Colorado.=
His research lies in discovering how what a person thinks interacts with w=
hat they say. For example, learning that "so-called climate change" is more=
likely to be said by a conservatine; that "mostly" is more likely to be wr=
itten in a negative review than a positive review; or that "the toy broke" =

Jordan's research group is interested in looking at how language in Diploma=
cy game presses gets reflected in what actually happens on the board. Are t=
here "tells" that show when a player is likely to get stabbed? Can we predi=
ct in advance when an alliance is going to dissolve? What language is most =
effective at getting another player to support your advance into St. Peters=
burg?

This is a descriptive study. At the moment, the goal is to describe the kin=
d of language that gets used and to predict what will happen in a particula=
r game. All the data will be anonymized and only quoted in small snippets t=
o protect your carefully crafted lies.

Concretely we're compiling the press of all completed standard (no payola, =
no xtalball) press games to date from 2010 onwards (which is when we starte=
d storing press on the server), both public and private. Maps, results, des=
criptions, rules and other game parameters are added, but player data and p=
asswords are stripped out so as to preserve anonymity as well as possible. =
May our ramblings alone fuel the knowledge of tomorrow.
