  Hi,

Apologies for the mass mailing but just wanted to let people know
that if anybody is interested in a Real Time game, there's one
happening tomorrow to test out the newest version of the
AIMapper/daide software. DAIDE is a stable system that's been used for
more than a year now to play gunboat games in a graphical user
interface in Real Time against other people and bots (the focus
ultimately is in developing AI for Diplomacy).
The latest version incorporates press for the first time and the
developer (David Norman) wants to get feedback on its implementation.
Come try it out tomorrow. Game(s) are scheduled for tomorrow Saturday
5th November, 8pm GMT (3pm US EST, Noon US PST, 7am(?) Sunday, AEST).

Game announcements will be in:
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/RTNow/

Software can be downloaded at: http://www.ellought.demon.co.uk/dipai/
(to join a game you just need the AIMapper).

And here's the official game announcement from David:
------
Hi All,

Would people be interested in trying for a game in a fortnight's time,
Saturday 5th November, 8pm GMT (3pm US EST, Noon US PST, 7am(?)
Sunday, AEST).

Deadlines: 10 minutes for moves, 2 minutes for retreats, 3 minutes for
builds.

The long movement deadlines, are to allow time for press. I'm proposing
that all press be enabled, except for free text. This means you have
to use
the DAIDE language. Basically, this is a chance to try the language out,
and find out how good it is, what people wanted to say, but couldn't
find a
way to do so, etc.

The language is pretty easy to use - the Mapper translates to and from
English. You just type by clicking buttons, rather than using the
keyboard.
To give it a go, download the new server and mapper, set the press level
set to 130, start the game with a mapper and 6 bots, and then on the Press
tab, click "Compose Press Message". Make sure you figure out how to
use the
scrollbar :-).

You can also try replying, if you use two Mappers. Double-click a received
message to bring the reply dialog up.

If people are interested, then I'll serve. Just shout out to see if we've
got enough to make it worth trying...

David.
