scenery

Hi
I have installed Flightgear 2.80.  Downloaded and installed scenery and objects for the UK via the "Install Add-on Data."
There was confirmation that the data installed. Yet when I run the prog. there is only what appears to be sea for the runway and planes on the horizon.
This is also true for the default airport. I have "Download Scenery on the fly" checked. Is there something that I'm not doing or something that I am doing that I shouldn't be.
My System is: iMac 2.66 GHz Intel core 2 duo
                          2 GB 800 MHz ddr2 sdram
                          ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256mb

I would appreciate any help.
