I believe that particular version of the gcc compiler (v2.96) wasn't an official gcc release and was notorious for having bad problems. I would strongly recommend upgrading to a more modern version of RedHat (or Fedora Core 2) or Madrake or Suse or any of the other leading distributions. I tried the latest Knoppix live cd and it is also very nice, although I don't see if there is a way to install it on your HD. > The scenery is the lates version 0.9.5 but my Flightgear is 0.9.3, > thus the definition file also old. Might this cause the problem?? The v0.9.5 scenery has some newer features which your flightgear-0.9.3 can't draw so you will have a nicer experience if you upgrade to v0.9.5, but you may have problems building v0.9.5 with your old redhat system.
