Airports on tombstones and SRTM30 Data

Hi All,

So, I managed to generate my airport (EG32 East
Fortune in Scotland, Europe), and ended up having to
generate some terrain to go around it because it
didn't fitt when just used instead of the old one.

As usual, I have a couple of questions.

The airport appears on a plinth, I guess about 5m
above the surrounding terrain. Is this normal?

The elevation data data I used doesn't show as good
topography as the terrain I downloaded from the
FlightGear website. The islands in the sea off the
coast, and some notable hills are missing. I tried the
DEM-30 then the SRTM30 data. I've tried upping the
number of nodes (to 2000) and reducing the allowable
error (to 15m) in terrafit.py, but the terrain is
still too flat. What elevation data does the
"official" FlightGear scenery use for the UK?

Many thanks

-Stuart
