That was it.  Thanks Fred.

This never occurred to me as a possibility, because the TerraGear
documentation specify SRTM-United_States-1 (and similarly for other
areas) for the SRTM 1" data.  So apparently the list above predates
the 1" dataset, and the docs are ahead of the genapts code -- even
though the docs haven't been revised in well over a year.  And the
last scenery was built using SRTM 1" data, so this must have been
an issue then too, right?  I just made a symbolic link of
SRTM2-North_America-3 to SRTM-United_States-1, and it worked OK.
Presumably that's what Curt did as well?

Should the list be updated?  I'd be happy to make the effort to
figure out what the list should be and make some kind of patch,
if it'd be useful.  Or does it make more sense for genapts to
instead take a command line argument indicating where the elevation
data is located?
