I can't tell you about the actual origin of that error message. However, I think there is a "nudge"-option documented somewhere in the genapts-README. Try that with a small value to "nudge" the geometry a bit. Maybe this helps. > I took the CVS snapshot of terragear source as of July 1 2006. The OS > I'm using is FreeBSD 6.0-RELEASE. Keep in mind that you'll also need the landcover data (towns, roads, rivers, etc.) for the area you want to build. Maybe Martin Spott can help you out by extracting some shapefiles from his terrain database for your specific area. > Has anybody tried putting together a script that does a complete > scenery build from scratch? You may want to have a look at my builder-script, which you can fetch at ftp://ftp.ihg.uni-duisburg.de/FlightGear/Misc_rag/new_builder-current.tar.gz It's a perl script which should do everything that is needed to prepare and build scenery. It's not yet finished as in "it does not yet have all I want it to have", but it works. I'm applying it regularly. > I am willing to switch to using cygwin, if anybody has been successful > generating scenery with terragear on windows using cygwin. I think, Martin Spott is possibly greatly interested in your procedure, and so am I. In the same directory as the scenery builder you can find a build skeleton for building FlightGear, TerraGear and other related tools: ftp://ftp.ihg.uni-duisburg.de/FlightGear/Misc_rag/fgfs-builder-current.tar.gz I'd love to extend it and make it more foolproof so maybe you want to have a look at that and perhaps we can find out how to extend this towards FreeBSD. Going towards cygwin is a step I'd hardly suspect to be of great help, to say the least. I have tried building TerraGear for cygwin and it was a mess even worse than the process on Debian GNU/Linux. > If anybody has been successful building scenery using the current code > from CVS, it would be very helpful to see even a command line history > dump of the commands you ran to successfully produce any scenery tiles. I'm using top-notch latest CVS of TerraGear all the time with my build-script and the additional patches in the build skeleton, and it works.
