Perhaps I should not throw in such a general question in this hot period, but this is a question that keeps bugging me for some time and I can see that the matter is getting more prominent over time. What is your policy about obsolete strings in PO files? In S2_5 and TRUNK, after placing nations in separate PO files, this section makes up almost 1/3 of the file. Choking Poedit and bloating the source code may not be the biggest problem if the obsolete strings are going to be useful in the future, but I guess we already now that e.g. the obsoleted nation legends are in a separate file and are now a huge portion of redundant code in the main PO file that is not going to come back. I also made quite a few terminological changes over the last years that are not consistent with the obsolete strings and this may cause some confusion for any future translators/proofreaders/editors. I always feel tempted to delete the obsolete strings, but perhaps they are or may be more useful than I think? Ans is there any "etiquette" for getting rid of (or not getting rid of) the hard work of previous translators (whose effort I deeply appreciate, even if I'm not always comfortable with their translations)? This is not terribly urgent, so feel free to postpone the answer until after the release :) -- Hubert _______________________________________________ Freeciv-i18n mailing list Freeciv-i18n-8nu/[email protected] https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/freeciv-i18n
