Re: Translations in multiplayer ruleset?

I have further information now. I uninstalled the distro-provided
freeciv 2.5.0 so that only the 2.5.1 is installed on my local system
now. As explained in my last message, it is installed below
$HOME/software. On the server there has never been installed another
version in parallel.

The locale on my client system is set to de_DE.UTF-8. The server’s
locale is en_US.UTF-8. Both run Freeciv 2.5.1 compiled from
source. Client in use is GTK3.

I still get the untranslated English messages in the Messages window,
but I also get untranslated messages in the chat window (for the system
messages). Here are screenshots:

I did not encounter English strings at other places. I checked the
menus, the server options dialog, the help system and some UI elements,
but all was properly translated. Only the chat window and the messages
window are affected. Interestingly, some messages come out translated
nonetheless; take a look again at those screenshots above. The last
message in the message window is translated; it’s the German translation
of “Didn't find a route to the destination!”. For the chat window, the
English messages might be due to the server having an English locale
set. I don’t know how Freeciv sends out the server messages over the
wire internally, so I can’t judge whether it is correct that I see those
messages in English rather than in German. I could live with them being
English, but the ordinary game messages window should be completely
translated even if the server runs an English locale and the client a
German one.
