 We're on track to release on Oct 8th. First draft of NEWS is at
http://www.freeciv.org/wiki/NEWS-3.0.0-beta3 (but it's already
outdated when I write this, with additional changes gone to git)

 However, there are no patches with string changes in the queue at the
moment, so strings are unlikely to change from what they are now. I've
just refreshed .po files at http://files.freeciv.org/translations/ for
all branches.
