The site is back up. It was due to miscommunication between me and the folk=
s running the datacenter about a necessary IP address change. Basically I t=
hought they said "Do X before June 16th or we will shut off your webserver"=
, but what they actually said was "Do X and tell us that you did X before J=
une 16th or we will shut off your webserver". So I did X on June 7th, but f=
ailed to tell them, and so they shut off the server.=20
The server might go down again if there are other problems (e.g., maybe I d=

he preliminary round of voting. The goal is to come up with a list of nomin=
ated games. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions; we now have 215 games=
to choose from. During the first round, everyone will be able to select up=

I took the suggestions and combined the two versions of Unmatched into one =

th the idea being that any version of these should be folded into this sing=
le entry. This seems like the most appropriate way of handling instances li=
ke this and avoids a misleading splitting of the vote.=20
Speaking of voting, you will do so by using our nifty little voting applica=
tion. No changes from previous years, but I=E2=80=99m sure no one will mind=
a refresher. First, go to the following website: http://meepleschoice.....=
...win<http://meepleschoice.win/>. You=E2=80=99ll see five menu headers at t=
he top right of the screen. If you created an account in a previous year, c=
lick on =E2=80=9CSign In=E2=80=9D. You=E2=80=99ll be prompted for your Logi=
n (that is, your Username) and your Password. Put both of those in and you=
=E2=80=99ll be ready to cast votes. If you don=E2=80=99t remember your pass=
word, click on the Forgot Password? prompt and we=E2=80=99ll get your passw=
ord back out to you. If you don=E2=80=99t have an account, click on "Sign U=
p" and you'll be asked to create a Username, provide your Email address, an=
d create a Password. You can also log in using either your Google or Facebo=
ok accounts. Once you've filled out the fields, click on the Sign Up button=
and you'll be entered into the database.=20
Once you=E2=80=99re logged in, you can vote by going to the Home screen. Th=
ere are two big buttons there, labelled =E2=80=9CVote=E2=80=9D and =E2=80=
=9CSee Results=E2=80=9D. Clicking on the =E2=80=9CSee Results=E2=80=9D butt=
on won=E2=80=99t show you anything, because I=E2=80=99ve hidden all the ear=
lier results to reduce the clutter during the vote. (Don=E2=80=99t worry, I=
=E2=80=99ll put them back after we=E2=80=99re finished.) So the button you =
want to click on is the Vote one. Doing so will show you a screen with all =
215 games listed in their full ludopathic glory. To the left of each game i=
s a green button that says =E2=80=9CAdd vote (10)=E2=80=9D. To vote for a g=
ame, click on the button. The button will turn red and say =E2=80=9CRemove =
vote=E2=80=9D. That shows that you voted for it. Also note that all the oth=
er green buttons now have a (9) in parentheses, to show that you only have =
nine votes left. If you want to change your vote, just click on a red butto=
n; it will change back to green and it, and all the other green buttons, wi=
ll have their parenthetical values increased by 1. Once you=E2=80=99ve vote=
d for 10 games, the text on the other games will change to =E2=80=9Cvote li=
mited=E2=80=9D and those buttons will be disabled, keeping you from voting =
for an eleventh game. The only way you can add a new game is by removing yo=
ur vote for one of the games you=E2=80=99d selected.=20
That's it. There's no button to register your final vote, because the syste=
m records your votes automatically as you vote for games. The app remembers=
your votes after you leave the screen and/or logout. When you return to th=
e application, you'll see all the choices you've previously made. Because t=
here's no formal way to finalize your vote, make sure you're happy with the=
selections on the screen before the voting deadline comes and I shut down =
the voting.=20
There=E2=80=99s one other thing to consider. At the top of the voting page,=
there=E2=80=99s a statement about the voting preference you set last year.=
It states whether or not you want to let other users see how you voted. If=
you=E2=80=99re happy with the preference listed, just ignore it. If you wa=
nt to change your preference, or you haven=E2=80=99t set it earlier (maybe =
this is your first year voting), click on the =E2=80=9CChange this=E2=80=9D=
button. Doing so will cause your preference to toggle between letting your=
votes be public and letting them be private. Once all the voting is over, =
we=E2=80=99ll be able to click on a game and see the usernames of the peopl=
e who voted for it, but only among those who don=E2=80=99t mind letting the=
ir votes be public. That will let folks check out how their fellow spielfri=
eks voted, while still honoring the privacy of those who would rather their=
votes remain secret.=20
I=E2=80=99ll give everyone a week for the first round of voting, so sometim=
e next Friday, I=E2=80=99ll shut down the voting. Then I=E2=80=99ll announc=
e what the nominated games are and we=E2=80=99ll continue with the final ro=
