Torcs car questions

Hi all this is my first posting on this mailing list :-),

I hope someone has an answer for this as it's left me puzzled!

How come that the Debian/Ubuntu packaged version of Torcs has totally 
different cars from the Fedora packaged version?


Basically I was hoping that there might be a way without redesigning the 
cars to be able to get some of the cars distributed in the Debian/Ubuntu 
package into my Fedora setup.


Primarily I really like the Porsche GT1 and Jaguar XJ220. I modified the 
XML files for the gearing and now on some of the Oval tracks and able to 
get round 425kM/h out of the XJ220 :-D :-D


Also it's weird but the Mercedes CLK DTM in the Debian/Ubuntu version 
looks much better then in the Fedora version. It seems to be higher res. 
or designed differently...


Another thing that puzzled me was the fact that when racing against the 
Porsche 911 GT1 in my Ubuntu 9.04 install on my notebook; the car really 
flies and easily gets up to 400kM/h on oval tracks without any problem 
and manages to sustain the pace around the corners. When driving the 
911GT1 the maximum speed that can be achieved is round 340-350kM/h, with 
a bit of XML gear modification I got it up to 360kM/h but how can I get 
it faster?


Additionally is there anywhere that I can change the power and torque of 
the cars? Or do I have to completely redesign them?


I have been reading through the Torcs main site and additional sites 
provided and found out quite a bit in terms of how to use a 3rd party 
editor to create new cars or how to import NFS cars into Torcs; 
unfortunately I couldn't find the information that I wanted....
