i also think it has to do with wagons, and with large of trains i've noticed that the game don't show that problem with a 7 square large passenger trains, though it does goes slow with a 7 squares large refrigerator wagon, and that's only when i have the train window open, and i just need to have one window of a train that large to experience the problem. and, i've experienced that with old versions too. i also use a 2.4 ghz cpu, with winxp -- TTDPatch mailing list.
