I would imagine that policy would vary between mail domain administrators.

It's one of the reasons DMP queries by IP as well as by domain.  I'm not
worried about wether a domain has five or fifty authorized senders, I just
want to know if *this* sender is authorized.  And even if it's only for the
duration of sending one e-mail, I don't care.
