Please read through what I said.

I mean that can we not take a step forward and not always try
to fit everything into ASCII? The IMAA draft is just a way to
encode e-mail addresses into ASCII to allow them to be sent through
the legacy e-mail systems. I want us to take a step forward and
update the legacy protocols to handle non-ASCII. And as I wrote in my
suggestion to updating the SMTP protocol to handle non-ASCII directely,
it can still handle backward compatiblity to those systems only
handling the legacy version of the SMTP protocol.

It is not a new systems. It is an internationalisation (that is, a
way to handle non-ASCII) of the e-mail protocol. I see no reason
to stop at just the e-mail addresses. But if we are only to discuss
how to encode e-mail addresses into ASCII on this list, then I will
leave it.
