other candidates for IMPP ?

Hello

    I am a student in a french engineering school (ESISAR - INPG), and I am
working on a project for a mobile phone manufacturer. The project is about
developping an IMPS client for their phone. In the wireless domain, it seems
that the protocol that will be the most widely used is Wireless Village IMPS
(http://www.openmobilealliance.org/wirelessvillage/). What do you think
about it ?
And what about the XMPP working group ? Is it a new candidate for IMPP ?
