RE: other candidates for IMPP ?

XMPP is developing a protocol within the requirements set forth by IMPP,
much like the SIMPLE, PRIM, and APEX working groups.  I'm not sure what you
mean by a "candidate for IMPP".  All four groups are chartered to develop
IMPP-compliant protocols, and at least a couple of them have essentially
finished the task.

I don't have any special knowledge of Wireless Village but it seems to be a
fairly typical industrial consortium effort.  There have been many protocols
proposed in this space by a wide variety of companies or groups of
companies, and I think it's quite hard for anyone to predict which (if any)
will succeed or fail.
