Re: other candidates for IMPP ?

I have read somewhere that the IMPP wg suggested 3 candidates for the IMPP
protocol : SIMPLE, PRIM and APEX, that's what I mean by "candidate for
IMPP".
About the Wireless Village, It is an industrial consortium (including Nokia,
Ericsson, Motorolla, ...) that wants to release an open solution for IM & P
but more specific to wireless networks than those suggested by the IETF.
Last Week at the 3GSM congress in Cannes, France, It seemed that everybody
was talking about Wireless Village IMPS as the solution that mobile phone
manufacturers will adopt, and nobody was talking about using XMPP/Jabber for
example.

XMPP is developing a protocol within the requirements set forth by IMPP,
much like the SIMPLE, PRIM, and APEX working groups.  I'm not sure what you
mean by a "candidate for IMPP".  All four groups are chartered to develop
IMPP-compliant protocols, and at least a couple of them have essentially
finished the task.

I don't have any special knowledge of Wireless Village but it seems to be a
fairly typical industrial consortium effort.  There have been many protocols
proposed in this space by a wide variety of companies or groups of
companies, and I think it's quite hard for anyone to predict which (if any)
will succeed or fail.
