RE: A philosophical question about large directory structures

Harald,

By "we" I ment us Canadians.  As it turns out, Geotrain has done some of
the planning work.  The registration authority will issue OIDs as well as DNs.

Alas, I do not have funding to go to Oslo and I am pretty busy on a project
right now, so I may not be able to do a major write-up.  You should be able
to get more information at:  http://doro.srv.gc.ca/

The registration authority fall under the Government Telecommunications &
Information Service (GTIS) who will also operate the government root
directory and {c=ca}.  At this point only the two largest provinces (in
terms of population), Ontario and Quebec are installing Enterprise
Directories and they may become registration authorities for their
respective territories.
