Gavin Brown and I have mentioned on the list that a standardised method for notifying registrars that the registry plans on garbage collecting unused objects would be useful. We went over methods that might be done within the contraints of the existing object mappings, but unfortunately nothing worked without breaking contraints EPP and the standardised mappings place on us. I believe that a standardised undelete / remove from quarantine extension should cover this use-case too. It would be better than the current practice of some registries that abuse RFC 3915 to implement removal from quarantine by having registrars issue <rgp:restore op="request"/> requests.
