You manage a buddylist, not an addressbook. Every single business customer I have talked with wants to integrate the presence into the address book or LDAP directory lookups. That's an API issue, but it means that we have to be able to have an API that queries for the presence of an object. Doesn't mean that we replace the address bok, we need points of integration. Note also that XMPP supports VCARDs in their buddy lists for managing extra attributes, like a photograph. /O
