Dear Yan Sun,

In addition to Ted's question: Do you have any publicliy available documentation about the governing process? And is there a registry of the resource-types you intend to use? It would then also help if you document the process for the assignment of the resource-specific-string for each resource type.

Best,

Lars

Dear Yan Sun,

Thank you for your note. As you are likely aware, one of the goals of the URN standard is to alllow its namespaces to manage a set of persistent, location-independent resource identifiers. Your registration lists airline as one of the identifier types to be issued under the IATA NSS (urn:iata:airline:LH being your only example).

My understanding of this area is limited, but I believe that IATA may reuse these codes 6 months after an airline is delisted, using "controlled duplication". How will you handle that in the context of a URN, where duplication is not permitted?

regards,

Ted Hardie

Dear URN experts and members of the [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> mailing list,

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) would like to request registration of the IATA URN namespace under the RFC 8141 fast-track registration procedure for recognized standards development organizations.

Following guidance from IANA, we are submitting our namespace registration request to this mailing list for review and discussion. The completed registration template is attached for consideration.

We would appreciate any feedback, questions, or recommendations regarding the proposed namespace registration. We are happy to provide additional information or make revisions as needed.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
