If this is the case, and given that we can hold only so many > BOFs on this topic [1], I think it would have been wise to discuss scope > and charter for the BOF BEFORE the BOF was scheduled. yes, but how many times? i know that this is the internet, so we have to go around the same cycle every six months. but the rate seems to be increasing. this bof may not break whois port 43 as defined because it is used for many services, some of which we do not even know. otoh, this bof may explore overlays for specific applications, such as trying to address the problems of multiple identities (the handle mess), regularizing overlay applications so screen-scraping can be automated, etc. randy
