LDAP is something that we have been playing with for a while.  An example 
of an ldap service that accesses domain registration data is at:

We have done some thinking on how to handle RIR data and think it may
be possible to make it work. RIR data is a bit more complex in dealing with 
allocation and allocations within an allocation types of searches.
