An example of an ldap service that accesses domain registration data is at: http://www.ldap.research.netsol.com An internet draft that describes this is at: http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-newton-ldap-whois-00.txt We have done some thinking on how to handle RIR data and think it may be possible to make it work.
