I know this has been said before, and I'm not criticising you, but you are
effectively saying "I would't buy a CD unless I could freely violate the law
with it".

Just so we're all clear on what we're fighting against - in wishing this to
be legal, you're not trying to preserve freedoms that existed a couple of
years ago before EUCD, but to reverse a law that's been standing since at
least 1988.

Ripping CDs to MP3 players is illegal and has been for at least 5 years. I
have already written to my MP pointing out that a huge industry has sprung
up around an activity that most people aren't aware is illegal or wrong, and
that it should therefore not be illegal. This law exists purely to help the
privileged few, and does nothing for the man in the street, and therefore
has no legitimacy.

I applaud you for your stand in defying this unjust law, and would do so
myself if I owned an Ogg player (on my shopping list).
