With software, the person who writes the software isn't necessarily the copyright holder - that privelege goes to the employer. I believe that films are in a similar situation in the US - the movie company and not the director/scriptwriter/whoever actually hold the copyright. IIRC the record companies there also claim the same thing about recordings, although the artists dispute that. That's all I meant- the new treaty would have to be written to ensure that the copyright remains with the creator and can under no circumstances be transferred. Then you have the problem of what happens after the author's death... Don't get me wrong - it's a good idea.
