[ACPI-sppt] Installing Suse 9.0 professional - could this be an ACPI problem?

When installing Suse 9.0 the first time on a M3700N Asus it took forever
(about 1h50m per CD) when I installed it again but this time with the
boot parameter acpi=off it performed a whole lot better... That is too
say until the end of the first CD. I then had to reboot and even though
I added the parameter again it never got back to the speed it had
before.

My question is: Can this be an ACPI problem? And if so, any suggestions
on how to fix this?

Any help is appreciated, I called the pay numbers of SUSE both in
Germany and in the UK but the folks that answered are clueless.

Aad Nales
