[ACPI-sppt] backlight and other problems on dell inspiron 8200 w/ 2.5.69

I am running a dell inspiron 8200  with a 2.5.69 kernel, patched DSDT so 
that it appears to work (nothing gives me errors, just some things don't 
happen right)

The first problem I noticed is that when I close the lid on my laptop, 
the display goes out after a few seconds, and after re-opening it the 
backlight never comes back on (until a reboot). The system is not 
locked, as tapping the power switch will cause a clean shutdown from 
acpid. Is the display supposed to be restored from within the DSDT 
somewhere, or by the bios, or in userspace? I ran many google searches 
to try and find this with no luck.

The second problem I noticed is that my suspend key no longer works, I 
asume this is now a userspace problem, as in I need to make an event 
handler for that button to request a state change to S1. Can someone 
confirm or deny this?

And the final problem I've noticed is that when I manually make a change 
to S1 (echo 1 > /proc/acpi/sleep) everything appears to fall asleep 
properly, but the display and backlight do not turn off. Then tapping 
the power button to wake the machine results in a locked computer 
(though I think the kernel is still there, because hitting varios keys 
can get the hard disk to seek and read things, though halt seems to not 
work) Has anyone run into this, or found a fix yet?


Any input would be appreciated, and apart from these few problems the 
patched DSDT I am using makes acpi otherwise function perfectly on my 
system.
