I am having a slight problem using the battery part of ACPI on my Dell Inspiron 3800. If I compile in battery support then the system fails to boot. If I compile it as a module and insert it latter I get a segmentation fault. If I look in my log I see the following message: ACPI-0370: *** Warning: Buffer created with zero length in AML If I run 'lsmod' then the battery module is listed as initializing. I noticed also that the problem does not occur if the module is loaded without the battery in the bay. When I had the module compiled in the kernel inserting the battery caused a segmentation fault also (although it does not seem to do this when I have loaded it as a module). I don't know hardly anything about ACPI, and my knowledge of the kernel is limited. But I would be interested in trying to track down the problem if someone could perhaps point me in the right direction. I can do whatever I need to provide any information needed. Thanks for any help. -- Eric Anderson There are 10 types of people in the world Those who can read binary, and those who can't ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Etnus, makers of TotalView, The best thread debugger on the planet.
