[ACPI-sppt] IBM R40 EmbeddedControl Errors

Hi,

I have a IBM R40 2722-3GG and some acpi problems. And I am using the 
acpi-20030523 patch (on 2.4.21-rc5).

First I get an error message about ACDT:
ACPI: Found ECDT
ACPI: Could not use ECDT

At this stage I I had no /proc/acpi directory, but Fn+ keys and console 
blanking worked.

Ok, because of this I updated my BIOS from 1.08 to 1.09 because the Changelog 
says something about a ECDT fix. By this chance I updated the Embedded 
Controler from 1.06 to 1.07.

Well, now this error message is away but I get other. A lot of like this:
ACPI-0345: *** Error: Handler for [EmbeddedControl] returned AE_TIME
ACPI-1121: *** Error: Method execution failed [\_SB_.PCI0.LPC_.EC__.BAT0._STA] 
(Node c15bcec0), AE_TIME

And with this configuration the Fn+ Keys are not working. But I have a 
/proc/acpi directory with some files. E.g. /proc/acpi/processor/power is 
there but /proc/acpi/battery is empty.

With the vanilla kernel (2.2.21-rc5) I get no error messages but again some 
files are missing. E.g. the /proc/acpi/battery directory is empty. Fn+ Keys 
are working

With -ac kernel I get one error message:
ACPI-1121: *** Error: Method execution failed[\_SB_.PCI0.USB7._INI] (Node 
c15b7860), AE_AML_REGION_LIMIT

With this the battery files are there and Fn+ Keys are working.

But the thing is that the -ac kernel does not work so good with the other 
hardware.

Well, does anyone have an idea, what to do? Is this again a bug in the BIOS 
and/or a bug in the Embedded Controler? Or is this a software problem?

If you need the complete log, I can post the complete "dmesg| grep -i acpi" 
output (because I don't know, if attachment are OK on this Mailing List).
