AH! Then under windows the fan is probably is correctly controlled by ACPI and
that's why it stays off?

Thank you for your offer. You must need something from my computer to look
at?

Thanks again for your help. :) The more I learn the more I can put into
the ACPI-HOWTO. :) All it really has right now is a very long explanation
of how to patch a kernel with a little bit of background.
