[ACPI-sppt] I don't recieve the ac/battery event

How do I catch the ac/battery event with acpid? (is it even sent).
Its a sony vaio laptop with amd mobile athelon 1500 (1.3 G)

I tried to write a genereal rule to see what events I get and I seem to
only get events only for the power button and lid.

the rule I tried:

event=.*
action=echo "%e" >> acpid.out

The output (including backgroud relevent debug messages recieved from
acpi to show that it actually recognises the events):
