You're welcome.  It took me long enough to realize that's what was happening...

That makes sense.  Mine flashes on 'standby' (what Windows calls it), too

What do you wonder about the echo option?  Calling swsusp should be absolutely
no different in terms of what actually happens than using "echo 4

Sorry, can't help you there.  I don't think you've ever told us what sort of
machine you're using.  Tell us what you have and perhaps somebody knows.
