Thanks, I did it with the 2.4.21-0.25mdk but the PC was still freezing after loading the kernel. I was using the default configuration of Mandrake except that I turned "use local APIC" off. Finally I took the standard 2.4.21 kernel, I patched it with the ACPI patch and tuned the configuration and now it's working :-).
