Good day,
I am having serious problems with either lockups or severe slowdowns on my nforce2 based motherboard. See the link for more information on that.
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16264
Anyway, there was something that occured between 2.4.21 and 2.4.22-rc2 that fixed my lockups, but causes my system to run super slow because of the kernel having to service tons of interrupts. See the link for more info on that.
I downloaded acpi patch against 2.4.22-pre8 and successfully applied it. But it will not compile. It errors with:
arch/i386/kernel/kernel.o(.text.init+0x39c5): In function `abit_apic_required':
: undefined reference to `enable_apic_up'
arch/i386/kernel/kernel.o(.text.init+0x3a02): In function `abit_apic_required':
: undefined reference to `enable_apic_up'
arch/i386/kernel/kernel.o(.text.init+0x3d0e): In function `force_apic':
: undefined reference to `enable_apic_up'
make: *** [vmlinux] Error 1
I did a find looking for the files that contained these undefined references, but didn't find them in the kernel source tree.
I am hoping that this patch will fix my interrupt problem, without also reintroducing my lockup problem once I get it to compile properly.
I have tried 2.6.0-test3 with the acpi patches applied and the interrupt problem is gone, by my system still locks up just as much as it did with 2.4.21.
BTW, there is currently a $20 reward for the successful fix to this problem. I have been told that my motherboard has just been updated with a new/different version of the nforce2 chip. Not sure if that is the problem, but I have found a lot of people sufferening from this and have found no solution.
Thanks,
Ken
