[ACPI-sppt] help: shutdown performance failed ???

joo hello,

my battary applet working fine in my compaq-laptop, but when
I try to change  the performance mode [to use less power ]  with:

echo 1 > performance

It doesn't work? Can anyone help me? I have kernel 2.4.22 on a
"Compaq Labtop 2825ea", Pentium mob. IIII.
