[ACPI-sppt] Compaq Presario X1000 has only readonly ACPI features

With 2.4.22-ac1, my X1000 can read battery levels, cpu performance levels,
etc.  But writing to /proc/acpi/sleep (e.g.) has no effect.  Similarly for 
/proc/acpi/processor/CPU0/performance.

Any clues?
