SUMMARY: Snapgear routers

Here are the most interesting snippets of the responses I received:

The devices have performed quite well, and are easy to manage in small
numbers (i.e. less then 10). Snapgear is supposed to be releasing a
management system for 10+ systems, which will greatly reduce the time needed
to reconfigure systems (currently you need to login to each device, the
management system will "push" configs out to the devices).

I would highly recommend these devices above a cisco product, except where
easy integration is needed with existing infrastructure.

The 550s are advertised as having SSH and SSL. They don't. I was told by
support that it will be included in the next firmware release "in a few
weeks". I have them setup and doing IPSec [and PPTP] just fine.

It is nice not having to worry about per seat licenses for the IPSec as some
other devices have.

I've found Tech Support to be non-responsive. You can either call their
non-800 line and get voicemail or send email. They may answer the email.
There is a good deal of info online in their knowledge base but beyond that
it seems your mostly on your own.

My only beefs now are the slow response (over a week) from Tech Support and
the misleading advertising regarding SSH & SSL features.

ORIGINAL POST:

I have a client who wants to connect four offices with Cisco 1710 VPN/Branch
Office Access routers and I'm leaning toward convincing him to buy Snapgear
instead. Snapgear recommended the SME550 as an "equivalent" to the Cisco:

People on this list have recommended Snapgear to me in the past. Does anyone
have any comments on this particular router (or any other Snapgear that they
would recommend)?
