Greets all,
I'm hoping to set up primary and backup LDAP servers on Red Hat Linux,
with the following goals:
- single sign-on for Solaris and Linux (Red Hat) clients
- support for netgroup-like functionality (such as NIS would have)
- identify a Web-based (Apache) solution for:
- administration by myself and other sysadmins
- self-administration by users
- change password
- add personal info
- optionally add image file
- optionally add free-form text
I've glanced at LDAP several times and have a background in administering
NIS.
The last time I gave this a go, I attempted to pull the server pieces
together on Solaris. I eventually realized I had run aground.
So, suggestions, pointers to quick-start docs, recommendations for the
Apache piece, all welcome.
jc
