SUMMARY: localhost DNS issue

Hello,


It turns out that the issue was actually that the box in question
was never able to look up anything with it's resolv.conf set to
nameserver localhost

However, it was failing over to an internal machine that ran DNS
as a service for all of the other internal machines. It turns
out that the internal BIND crashed, and that's why it wasn't
working.

I changed the resolv.conf on the box in question to use the
IP that BIND is bound to rather than "localhost" and it seems
to work fine now.
