RPM fragged?

I had a momentary bout of stupidity when I needed to install some kernel sources. I installed the .src (rpm spec files) instead. To verify that I had installed them, I kept trying to grep for 'src' and it did not show up. After figuring out my mistake, I then ran 'rpm -ivh' on the sources. The install hung (I waited nearly 15 minutes and the process was still running). The source was there so I tried to ctrl-C out of the process with no response. So I killed the RPM process. Now, no rpm activity will work. The process is spawned but it hangs there with 0:00 CPU activity. I tried to run an install, an erase, and rebuilddb. All processes hung. I am running Redhat 9 and RPM 4.2. Is there any way to address this issue without reinstalling Redhat?
