Summary: Display too wide in Virtual PC
Product: Ark Linux
Version: 1.0 rc1
Platform: i686 (PC, Intel)
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Affects: Overall Usability
Component: XFree86
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [email protected]
QAContact: [email protected]
Description of Problem: Arklinux installed and ran just fine on Virtual PC 6.
However, the default screen resolution was larger than the Virtual PC window, so
I had to scroll the window all the time. Using the control in the task bar, I
selected a lower screen dimension. I meant to choose 800x600, but got 640x480,
instead. At that setting, I could no longer see the task bar. Unable to figure
out what else to do, I rebooted the Arklinux virtual machine. Now, once the GUI
starts up, the screen is extremely wide, i.e. the "pixels" are much too wide
apart. Everything is extremely stretched. And, changing selections for the
display, either dimension or refresh rate, has no effect. And, the only
dimensions available are 640x480 and 800x600. 1024x768 no longer appears as a
choice.

get back to the starting point is to reinstall ArkLinux which takes over 2 hours.
