Summary: Nonfuncctional sound on my desktop(user starts to whin)
           Product: Ark Linux
           Version: Dockyard
          Platform: i586 (PC, Intel)
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Normal
           Affects: Overall Usability
         Component: kernel
        AssignedTo: [email protected]
        ReportedBy: [email protected]
         QAContact: [email protected]

Description of Problem:

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
ALSA .9.4 or OSS (most likly ALSA) (I know I said kernel but there no slection
of a sound componet)

How Reproducible:
AC97 Audio card that come hp Pavilion 533c (intergrated, yes I know that makes
many of willing to throw up:-))

Steps to Reproduce:
1. If you have my computer you can reproduce it.
2. Only Mandrake 9.0 & 9.1 has been able to support my sound card (i've tried
knoppix{Debian install} Ark linux alpha 6, 7, & dockyard that I downloaded on
ether the 14 or 15 of June 2003
3. You find if you try to configure sound instead of letting it autodetect it
does nothing

Actual Results:
Only that system beep works.

Expected Results:
Sound

Additional Information:
Only Mandrake has been able to support my sound card. I think that it has
directly compiled in instead of using modules or maybe my PC is a black sheep
with Linux compatility. Ask me if there are any kind of tests I could run on my
machine. Oh and I am using the standard drivers that came with Ark.

Good info on my Pavilion model
