If you are only getting a blank screen and nothing else after grub, your system is not actually frozen. I suspect if this is in the grub menu after an insital installation of arklinux 10, you do not actually have the boot image or you have a corrupted boot image. The easiest soultion would be to use synaptic and remove all the old kernels except 2.4 and use 2.4. The current release of the 2.6 kernel 2.6.1-rc1 is still experimental, but should also be available in synaptic should you choose to use it. If the 2.4 kernel is function, its probably the best option for you to use at this point in time.
