Summary: Sound System Bootup Configuration Failure
Product: Ark Linux
Version: 1.0 alpha10
Platform: i586 (PC, Intel)
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: High
Affects: Overall Usability
Component: sndconfig
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [email protected]
QAContact: [email protected]
Description of Problem:I have a MSI KT3 ULTRA2 motherboard with/using built-in
AC97 sound (VIA 8235 Chip) and a USB Logitech 4000 pro web camera. If I bootup
with the camera plugged in. Sound system configuration will fail. When I reach
KDE I am informed that sound device default is not found and Kmix crashes with
seg fault. If I boot with out the camera being plugged in Sound system is
configured normally. This problem is caused by the USB hotplug system being
configured on boot up prior to the Motherboard built-in sound chip/system
being configured. Once the web cam microphone is configured as the sound
system the onboard VIA 8235 AC97 chip is not properly configured.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
How Reproducible:Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Plug in Logitech 4000 Pro Web CAM
2.Do a normal Boot up
3.
Actual Results:When KDE is started sound device default is not found and Kmix
has a Segfault crash.
Expected Results:Sound System should be configured.
Additional Information:This has been a problem in Libranet 2.8.1, but was not
a problem in SuSE 9.0. The temp work around of booting up with out the web cam
plugged in works but is not a permanent solution.
