Summary: bash 3.0 is broken for utf8 and readline prompts
Product: Ark Linux
Version: Dockyard
Platform: i586 (PC, Intel)
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: High
Affects: Stability
Component: bash
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [email protected]
QAContact: [email protected]
Description of Problem:
Please see the following URLs for full information about the flaws of migrating
to 3.0:
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-bash/2004-07/msg00313.html
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-bash/2004-07/msg00262.html
These bugs will cause instability for users and possibly break core packages
such as the initscripts. While you may not see these issues on your machine,
the folks on #bash at FreeNode all are in agreement that it is too soon to move
up to 3.0 bash.
