LinuxWorld Expo

Well boys 'n girls.. I finally talked to a real person yesterday, and 
all 22 of the .Org pavillion spots were consumed within a week of being 
available.  That means all of the FREE spots are taken.  At the moment, 
the best option is to try and get in with the DesktopLinux Consortium 
who are apparently setting up some pretty snazzy demos and will be 
presenting  Desktop Linux as being ready NOW as opposed to 'down the 
road'.  They may be willing to sell us a spot for $700.  Before you 
scream at them...  Frank Netherwood (the account manager) said he'd be 
happy to GIVE us space if they have any leftover, but even then it's 
going to cost us a minimum of $679 because we have to get the space 
carpeted, set up a booth, etc.  So the $700 is a good deal, considering 
they'll do the carpeting, provide us with high grade furniture, etc.  
Problem is, *I* don't have $700 to throw at it.

So this is where we discuss our options.  From talking to Frank, it 
sounds like we're doing better than we thought..  people are TALKING 
about us alot, as Frank put it "I am constatnly hearing people talk 
about you guys, but nobody seems to know where you are.."

I really think it would be big for us to be there in NY..  but if we're 
not, it sounds like we'll still have representation.  Frank said that 
the DesktopLinux guys were going to use Ark for their demo machines, 
BECAUSE we weren't going to be there.. since none of the other desktop 
players could get pissed  at them, since we weren't there competing.

At any rate.. we need to make some decisions.  I still plan to go.. work 
may still pay for me to go as an attendee.  If we can come up with the 
cash for the booth, I'll go as an exhibitor.  If not, we really need to 
plan to be at San Francisco.. though I don't know anybody in San Fran, 
so the cost is going to be a good deal higher. (and I hope to have quit 
this job by then).
