Hardware support

I've got two nics on my computer, one is a 3Com 3C940 which was 
previously very poorly supported by Linux and the other is a RTL 8139 
compatible thingamajig. Since the 3Com NIC wasn't well supported before 
I've dropped using it in favor of the RTL 8139 card which is what I'm 
currently using, however Ark only sees eth0 which is the 3Com card and 
while I don't have it disabled in the bios I don't have anything plugged 
into it either. I would like to change the default NIC ark uses but I 
don't think it even sees my RTL 8139 card since its not in the list of 
available network interfaces, in fact the 3Com doesn't appear to be 
either now that I think about it the only interface there had a name 
that started with an 's'. I've tried running modprobe 8139.too but the 
module cannot be found, so I have had no luck getting it to work.

I also have an unsupported sound card, the culprit it unknown to me but 
its the card built into the ASUS P4P8X motherboard.

I'd appreciate it if someone could help me get these two (three) pieces 
of hardware to work, the 3Com card isn't all that important however if 
it is properly supported in Ark now I'll probably swap the Cat 5 cable 
back over to it instead of the RTL 8139 card.
