I can't reproduce that, but it may well be a broken BIOS. Try this:

In the grub menu (the one that lists your kernels and other operating 
systems), go to the line showing 2.6.10 and press "e".

In the screen that follows, select the line that starts with "kernel ", and 
press "e" again.

Append " i8042.noacpi" [without the "" signs] to the line, press return
press "b".

If this works, your BIOS is broken, and you can make the workaround permanent 
by editing /boot/grub.conf and adding i8042.noacpi there (same "kernel ....." 
line).
