HP Deskjet 3650

I've got an interesting problem with my HP printers, I'm not sure how to check 
what the problem is but I'm sure with help I'll figure it out.

I've got my HP printer plugged into one of the many USB ports on my computer, 
I've got two in the front and then another four in the back. My HP Printer is 
plugged into one of the USB 1 plugs if I'm not mistaken, when I try to set it 
up thought it doesn't show up in the list of connected printers and the only 
time I think ark even knows its there is when I've just turned the thing off 
I get a hotplug notice that a new USB device has been plugged in.

The printer is an HP Deskjet 3650 and I'm running it on Dockyard-devel


I also tried to update cups but got this error message:
